Prayer and sacramental care for those in need, the sick and dying

Picture

In the event of serious need, sickness or death, the Church offers a variety of ministries, which may include prayer, Holy Communion and the Sacraments of Healing -  Anointing of the Sick and Confession (Reconciliation)

In an emergency (e.g. death or sudden illness) call the parish priest on:
020 7837 4228 (Home) or 020 7713 6073 (Church Office)

If the Parish Priest is on holiday, contact details for a neighbouring parish will usually be found on the answerphone message.

Prayer requests

Requests for prayer for you, a loved one, a friend etc can be submitted via e-mail :  saintsilas@btconnect.com

Housebound ?

The Parish Priest will visit you at home if you are housebound (permanently, or temporarily after illness). He can pray with you and bring Holy Communion to those who are communicant members of the Church.

In the event of death

If someone has died, you should contact a local funeral director (undertaker). If you would like to arrange a funeral at St Silas, you should contact the Parish Priest before making any arrangements with the funeral director. Providing he is available, the Parish Priest will take funerals of anyone who lives in the parish who requests a Church of England funeral. Funerals may take place at a local crematorium or in church.

Prayer for the deceased

The recently departed are prayed for by name at Mass at the time of death and for at least several days after. The recently bereaved are invited to our annual Memorial Service, which usually takes place in early or mid November. All the faithful departed are prayed for at our Mass for All Souls Day (usually the 2nd November each year). Departed Church members and friends are prayed for at the time of the anniversary of their death.

Confession (Sacrament of Reconciliation)

If you have done wrong, you may wish to express your sorrow to God and ask His forgiveness through the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession). Come to Mass or make an appointment by calling the Parish Priest on 020 7837 4228
We are committed to safeguarding children, young people, victims of domestic abuse and vulnerable adults. The Parochial Church Council has adopted the Church of England’s policies and best practice on safeguarding which may be found on the Church of England’s website. https://www.churchofengland.org/more/safeguarding.

Our Parish Safeguarding Officer is Nathan Lyons, who may be contacted at church or via the Parish Office: 020 7713 6073
